Lady Gaga is objectively uninteresting

The thing about music is that - as with any artistic expression - there are levels to it. It's possible for expression to be sophisticated or original or to deal with more significant ideas, or express them in a more poetic way. Yes, these measures are subjective to an extent, but there's objective elements to them too.

Things like Lady Ga Ga aren't just about music, they're dependent on image and fashion too. Bands like radiohead tend to create fashion as a consequence; their music is significant and therefore things they do become fashionable. Lady GaGa works the other way as much as anything; her style and presence in the cultural consciousness dictates that attention is paid to her music.

Also you can see that what she produces is less an artistic expression than a corporate effort; extra songwriters, producers, management. It's not a pure expression. Plus whilst the hooks may be appealing, the structure of the music is easily derived back to various sources of inspiration. Radiohead, on the other hand deal with a diverse set of novel influences and ideas. They are as inflential as they are influenced.
